Hello World.

I'm Asger Bjørn Jørgensen, a 33 year old researcher from Denmark, currently working as an Associate Professor at AAU Energy, Aalborg University. I received my Masters Degree in Energy Engineering, with a specialization in Power Electronics and Drives from Aalborg University in 2016. During my Masters studies, in 2015 I did a study abroad at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. In 2019 I received my PhD degree within the topic of packaging of wide bandgap power semiconductors using simulation-based design at AAU Energy, Aalborg University. While pursuing my PhD degree, I was a visiting researcher at North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, US under supervision of Professor Douglas C. Hopkins. In 2020 I received the European Power Electronics and Drives Association (EPE) Outstanding Young EPE Member Award for my research on integrated GaN eHEMT power modules.

technical research interests

My research is focused on the design of compact power module packaging to utilize the benefits of wide bandgap power semiconductors such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), including in-depth multi-physics finite element simulation of electromagnetic, thermal and thermo-mechanical behaviour. Faster development of new packaging concepts is obtained through digital prototyping, 3D modelling and accurate circuit simulation. My research focuses on reducing the time-to-market of new prototypes through digital twins, which saves both time and material ressources, while providing useful insights and models for the designs in future field operations.
